Getting around to other major centres in Australia from our region has never been easier. Airlines, and train services are well represented in the Newcastle to Taree and Port Macquarie corridor and allow access to most centres within 8-10 hours.
Beginning locally, Eggins Comfort Coaches have scheduled services starting right on Evermore's door in Bruce Street and travelling to Taree to link you to the Sydney, Grafton, Casino and Brisbane XPT train services.
Recently there has been a boom in air travel to and from the mid-north coast. We are lucky to live between the two most popular hubs for air travel in NSW. Newcastle's Williamtown Airport has services to Melbourne, Brisbane (QantasLink, Virgin and Jetstar), Gold Coast (Virgin and Jetstar}, Sydney (Rex and Pelican), Taree (Rex) andDubbo, Ballina and Canberra all with Pelican.
Newcastle Airport presents itself as an alternative to Sydney's Kingsford-Smith airport for those people living on the Central Coast, Hunter and Mid-North Coast regions. It is only 80 minutes from Evermore, has plenty of parking and other services.
Port Macquarie Airport has services to Sydney (Virgin and QantasLink), Brisbane (Virgin), seasonal service Lord Howe Island (QantasLink) and from November 7th to Melbourne with Jetgo operating a 35 seater regional jet aircraft.
Services from Newcastle to Melbourne, Brisbane and the Gold Coast are about 60 to 75 minutes. Port Macquarie to Brisbane about 75 minutes and to Melbourne (Essendon Airport) about 90 minutes.
Taree has services with Rex to Newcastle and through service to Sydney 3 times daily (check their website for details). You can fly Rex from Taree to Newcastle (about 20 minutes) then connect with other services south (Melbourne for example) but you'd need to collect and re-check your bags at Newcastle.
If you've been to Williamtown Airport recently you'd notice runway works. Rumour has it that Jetstar Boeing 787 services from Newcastle to New Zealand are planned. If this is the case 787 services to South East Asia would be possible.
Further north, Coffs Harbour airport has direct and non-stop service to Sydney, Melbourne, Brisbane.
Connections at Brisbane and Melbourne Tullamarine are easy as all carriers (except Jetgo) depart from there to all Australian states and territories.
